New York
We had a week to go on holiday somewhere, and three choices - a caravan in West Wales, a city break to Barcelona or a chance to visit the Big Apple, and get more stamps in our passports. We chose New York, and jetted off across the pond (a mere 8 hour flight) to visit Elizabeth's 4th continent in as many months....
|
Grand
Central Station was simply beautiful...
|
|
And
Elizabeth loved climbing through the tubes at the American Museum of Natural
History (she didn't think much of the Space Exhibition though). There
were lots of dinosaurs... is this were Ross works?
|
|
We
braved the cold to visit Ground Zero - the site of the World Trade Centre.
The site of the Twin Towers is now a building site, where the subway is
being re-built.
|
The
only things that remind you what happened 18 months ago, was a cross constructed
from girders, and a bill board of photos, snap shots and tributes, posted
by people who had visited the World Trade Centres whilst the Twin Towers
were standing.

The
sun still refused to shine, but we took the ferry to Staten Island to
see the Statue of Libery...
|
...and
once we got there, we came straight back! Now, what's this I hear about
the French wanting their statue back?

The
sun shone occasionally, and allowed us a trip to Central Park. The ice-skating
was fantastic... until I fell flat on my face...!
|
|
And
after the sun set, the other lights of New York came out...
|

|
..in Times Square... |
||
|
...and
as can be seen from the top of the Empire State Building.
